  • 1 cup heavy cream Can be substituted with half-and-half for a lighter version.
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese Add for cheesy flavor.
  • to taste salt and pepper Adjust for seasoning.
  • optional parsley or chives for garnish Enhance presentation.

Preparation

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and brown the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain any excess fat once browned.
  • Dice the potatoes and chop the onion, carrots, and celery while the beef is cooking.
  • In the crockpot, combine the browned beef, diced potatoes, chopped onion, carrots, and celery.
  • Pour in the beef broth and stir gently to mix all ingredients.

Cooking

  • Cover the crockpot and set it to cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4 hours.
  • About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the heavy cream and shredded cheddar cheese. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Serve hot, garnished with parsley or chives if desired.

Notes

Substitute heavy cream for lighter options. Vegetarian variations can include lentils or plant-based meat with vegetable broth.
