Preparation

  • Heat two tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add one pound of ground beef to the skillet and break it apart with a wooden spoon as it cooks for about 5 to 7 minutes until browned.
  • Stir in two cloves of minced garlic, cooking for about one minute until fragrant.
  • Add two cups of fresh broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3 to 4 minutes until the broccoli is tender but still has a slight crunch.
  • In a separate bowl, mix two tablespoons of soy sauce, one tablespoon of oyster sauce, one tablespoon of cornstarch, and one quarter cup of water.
  • Pour the sauce mixture over the beef and broccoli, stirring to combine. Cook for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste, and serve over a bed of warm cooked rice.

Notes

Consider using ground turkey or chicken for a leaner dish. Add other vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms for variation.
